HDPE Dredge Pipe Description

The high density polyethylene resins are continuously extruded by extruders and specially designed molds, which form the rigid HDPE dredge pipes.

The HDPE dredge pipes are high in performance, light in weight, easy to transport and install, and do not require large-scale mechanical construction. The length of each section can be made arbitrarily according to user needs. It has high wave resistance, ring stiffness, and high tensile strength. It can withstand the impact of wind and waves on the sea, has minimum water resistance coefficient, low resistance to transport sand. With good performance, high chemical stability, it can withstand various corrosive media (acid, alkali, salt, etc.) within a certain temperature and concentration range.

HDPE dredge pipes are widely used for dredging industries, dredger pipelines, sand pumping pipelines, etc.

With dredging becoming more and more popular today, HDPE pipe has become the most ideal choice for transporting liquids under pressure with a mixture of water and inert materials such as clay, silt, sand, gravel, and large size solids. HDPE dredging pipe is made of high density polyethylene material and can be produced in a variety of sizes. The dredge pipe is manufactured and welded from two HDPE flange adapters and two steel flanges, also known as "HDPE flange pipe", where the two pipes can be easily joined together by flanges and covered with floats to keep them afloat. Dredge pipe is the preferred choice for agricultural applications, mud dredging, and mining projects. Dredged HDPE pipes are used with floats filled with polyurethane (foam) material.

1. Excellent Corrosion resistance: with various organic solvents, HDPE pipes have high resistance to various acid and alkali corrosion, especially in corrosive sea waters, no need for corrosive maintenance as steel pipes.

2. Largely reduce pumping costs: with the friction coefficient of 0.009, the internal surface of HDPE pipe is very smooth, which decrease the flow resistance of the water; and the non-adhesion property also enables HDPE pipe to have higher transmission efficiency, about at least  20%  reduce the pumping costs.

3. Largely reduced maintenance costs: With good properties of wear resistance, corrosive resistance, low-temperature resistance, the HDPE pipelines will not need the daily maintenance of anti-rust, antifreeze, scaling cleaning, etc, which could save 95% costs for maintenance during the operation.

4. Light in weight and easy connection: with the density of 0.94g/cm3, the weight of HDPE pipe is 1/8 of steel pipes, furthermore, the HDPE pipes can be connected by steel flanges or by fusion welding, which will be easier to do at the job sites, largely reduce labor costs

5. Anti-aging with longer service life: 2-2.5% carbon black will be uniformly mixed in the raw material to make it sunproof to have a longer service life.

Did you know dredging and HDPE dredge pipes?

Dredging engineering refers to dredging, widening or digging deep rivers and lakes and other water areas, using manpower or machinery to carry out underwater earth and rock excavation projects. The main function of the dredging pipeline is to clean up and transport silt, mud and other mixed debris.

2. Steel pipe anti-corrosion treatment, handling, storage, construction, use, and susceptible factors, climate factors and other environmental influences cause anti-corrosion damage and corrosion, leading to failure of the pipe network; the service life is only 15 years

The inner wall is rough, the water resistance is large, and it is easy to scale and cause the water passing capacity to decrease. The roughness coefficient is 0.013

1. The pipeline adopts electric welding or flange connection, which is prone to weld oxidation and fluid corrosion and cracking;
